What is a Building Permit?

A building Permit gives you legal permission to start construction of a building project in accordance with approved drawing and specifications.

When do you need a Building Permit?

The best way to find out if you need a Building Permit is to contact the Building department at (860) 537-7285. Discuss your plans with the Building official before beginning construction to determine if you need a permit.

Please Note: The Building Permit process takes approximately two (2) to four (4) weeks depending on the scale of the project. Wetland or Zoning permits might be required.
