Submit a FOI Request

To submit a Freedom of Information (FOI) request to the Town, please send a written letter to the First Selectman's Office, Attention Executive Assistant/FOI Coordinator, detailing the exact information you are requesting. You may also send an email request to; Executive Assistant/FOI Coordinator, Taryn Scott. FOIs can be submitted at [email protected]

The Town will respond within four business days to your request acknowledging receipt, and will begin working on the request.

All FOI requests are subject to a per-page fee (per state law). The Town of Colchester charges $0.50 per page (8.5" x 11"). The total fee is due at the time of pick-up. There is no charge to review documents.

The Freedom of Information Act does not require municipalities to create documents per an FOI request, and only documents that currently exist are subject to the law.

If this is regarding an FOI request for the Colchester Police Department be advised the Town of Colchester only retains police Body Worn Camera footage. Any other FOI request for police reports, accidents reports, mobile video recordings, 911 tapes, or other police investigative reports should be directed to the Connecticut State Police, 1111 Country Club Road Middletown, ATTN: Legal Affairs.
