Youth & Social Services

logoThe Department of Youth & Social Services provides programs and services designed to improve the quality of life for youth, families and individuals so that they may reach their full potential.

We sincerely hope everyone is staying healthy and doing well with this unique situation we are all in!

Here are a few updates in relation to the Colchester Food Bank:

- The food bank is currently closed for scheduled shopping days.  However, if someone is in need of food we are currently providing pre-packaged food bags.  If you need or know someone who needs a food bag, please call our office 860-537-7255 and we will inform you of a pick up time.  Picks ups are drive up only.  We will bring the food to your car. (We cannot accommodate specific requests at this time, all bags are pre-packaged)

- We are currently not able to accept donations of food at this time as the Town Hall is closed to the public.  We encourage everyone who would like to support the food bank to drop off gift cards to local stores such as Westchester Market Place, Noels, Stop and Shop etc.  There is a drop box gift cards can be placed in.  The box is located outside of the front doors of town hall to the left. (Smaller denomination gift cards ($10, $15, $20 etc.) are helpful so we can easily distribute them as needed)

- If you would like to make a general donation to the food bank or social services those can be left in the drop box as well.

Please do not hesitate to call our office with any questions!  We are trying to support everyone we can with health and safety being a top priority.

NOTICE: ALL of the United Way Mobile Food Pantry distributions are temporarily suspended due to health and safety concerns.

NOTICE: All Youth Services programs are on hold until further notice. This includes Open Youth Center, Teens in Action, Youth Action Council, Youth Force Group, Chill Skills, and April Break trips.
