Police Department

It is the mission of the Colchester Police Department to protect the Town of Colchester citizens, personnel, patrons and property from crime, violence and disruptions. In tandem with the Town of Colchester management team, the Police Department maintains a safe and orderly environment so our citizens may live in a safe atmosphere. The Colchester Police Department is a progressive law enforcement agency that incorporates community policing, strategic regional cooperation, and effective collaboration with surrounding agencies. All policing strategies and decisions within the Police Department will be made with this mission in mind: "Protecting the CitizensToday with Courtesy, Pride and Professionalism."

The Colchester Police Department/Colchester Resident Trooper’s Office, located at the Northwest corner of the Colchester Town Hall is a full-service department responsible as the primary law enforcement agency for the Town of Colchester from 0700-2400 hrs daily. The Department is supervised and supported by The CT State Police with primary law enforcement duties assumed by the CT State Police (Troop K) at 2400 hrs daily.

Community services provided by the Colchester Police include, but are not limited to: Youth Services, School Resource Officer, TRIAD, Neighborhood Crime Watch, and support of a number of additional Community Policing initiatives.

If there is an FOI request for the Colchester Police Department be advised the Town of Colchester only retains police Body Worn Camera footage. Any other FOI request for police reports, accidents reports, mobile video recordings, 911 tapes, or other police investigative reports should be directed to the Connecticut State Police, 1111 Country Club Road Middletown, ATTN: Legal Affairs.
