First Selectman's Report: 12/19 – 12/23

1. Merry Christmas to everyone celebrating this December 25th!! May your love keep you warm!!

2. A big thank you to John Jones, Steven Hoffmann, and Sean Shoemaker for their collaboration and expertise throughout the storm. Let's also recognize our public work department and first responders for their excellent work as well. We have a fantastic team!! Please remember to stay off the roads if possible as a flash freeze is expected later this evening.

3. The Fire Headquarters located at 52 Old Hartford Rd will be opening as a warming/charging station from 6PM to 10PM tonight. Fire Headquarters will reopen for residents tomorrow, 12/24, from 8AM to 4PM. Charging for phones/electronic devices and hoses for water will be available for residents to utilize.

4. Last Saturday, the Westchester Cemetery Association, in collaboration with Troop 109 & Pack 109, helped coordinate a Wreaths Across America ceremony. Let us always REMEMBER the Fallen, HONOR those who Serve, and TEACH our children the value of Freedom

5. Congratulations to Officer Dominic Sullivan and K-9 Dutch for completing their K-9 Patrol Class. We look forward to seeing this team in action!!

8. The Transfer Station will be opened on Saturday, December 24th from 8 AM to Noon

9. Making History: The Bisbikos Administration has allocated the most for tree removal and trimming ($100K) than any prior administration. John Jones, our Interim Public Works Director, and I have identified not only the need, but the liability associated with the lack of progress over the years. We thank the Board of Selectmen and Board of Finance for approving the internal transfer within the Town's Budget. We have already trimmed and removed hundreds of trees.

10. The Colchester Hayward Fire Department will be hosting a Blood Drive on Thursday, December 29th from 1 PM to 6 PM at the Colchester Hayward Fire Department Headquarters (52 Old Hartford Road). To schedule an appointment, please visit RedCrossBlood.org (enter 06415)
