Mask Mandate Lifted

Effective 10/1/2021 at 10 a.m.

The case rate for COVID in our community has been on the decline for the last several reporting periods.   Our state of CT leads the nation in percent of population vaccinated and also in the lowest number of cases per 100K lives.  The mandate for mask wearing in public indoor spaces was based on increasing numbers over a period of time.  Speaking with the Director of Chatham Health, we are moving toward an emphasis on vaccination, and lifting the mask mandate effective today, 10/1/2021 at 10 am.

The spread of COVID still exists; especially for unvaccinated individuals.  We will continue to require masking for unvaccinated individuals in indoor public settings.  Please continue to use social distancing as it is a very effective means of decreasing exposure in most circumstances and consider wearing a mask where it is not possible, no matter what your vaccination status.  The town will continue to work to schedule vaccination clinics and provide ongoing information regarding the status of COVID in our town and surrounding area.
