Chip Sealing to start Monday July 22, 2024, on Bull Hill Road 7:30am

Chip Sealing starts on Monday, July 22. The first road to be paved will be Bull Hill starting at 7:30 a.m. Please expect delays and possible road closures.

Chip sealing is a pavement preservation technique that involves applying a layer of asphalt and crushed stone to a road to protect it from weather damage and to extend its lifespan. Colchester is working with a contractor using an Asphalt-Rubber SAM (stress absorbing membrane), a high-performance type of chip seal surface treatment that seals and preserves the existing pavement surface. The process utilizes a crumb rubber modified liquid asphalt and treated stone to create a more durable and versatile surface treatment compared to traditional chip seals.
