First Selectman's Report: 11/21 – 11/23/2022

 

1. Buttercup, the turkey, has officially been pardoned!! We wish our entire community a Happy Thanksgiving!! 

2. A big thank you to Tim & Amanda Francis, their children, and Lil' Rascals Farm for the turkey in today's pardon!!

3. The Board of Selectmen and Board of Finance will have a joint meeting to discuss options on how to mitigate inflationary costs for the Senior Center on Monday, November 28th, at 6 PM. The meeting will be hybrid. If you have any questions/comments, please send them to Senior Center Building Committee at seniorcenterbuildingcommittee@colchesterct.gov 

4. I want to congratulate Tiffany Quinn & Matt Chicchese of the Park & Recreation Department in receiving the 2022 Inclusive or Adaptive Program of Merit Award for their work related to Summer Day Camp at yesterday's Park & Recreation awards ceremony held at Mohegan Sun. Our town is very fortunate to have wonderful town employees who work very hard for all of us!!

6. Holiday Homecoming will be Saturday, December 3rd, at 4:30 PM on the Town Green. Santa will be riding in to light the tree! There will be carolers, hot chocolate, cider, and plenty of surprises!! 

7. The Colchester Cooperative Nursery School will have a basket raffle with several holiday-themed baskets available at the Holiday Homecoming. Raffle entry will be $10.

8. A big thank you to Stula Enterprises for installing and donating the lights for the tree to be utilized for Holiday Homecoming and all through the season.

9. The main phase of the Town Green Project has been completed! There will be the second phase of clean-up and grounds restoration around spring.

10. Looking for a tree? Please consider Evergreen Acres Tree Farm and Nursery, located at 464 Windham Avenue in Colchester Evergreen Acres opens for the winter season the day after Thanksgiving and is open until Christmas Eve (Thursdays through Sundays only from 9 AM to 4:30 PM) for many of your holiday decorating needs—there's a cute Christmas shop on site which sells handcrafted items, hand carved birds and duck decoys as well as other festive items to help you celebrate with style.

11. Fud Delivery held its 2nd annual Turkey sale with Scarpa Ledge Farms. This year, six Fud Delivery Agents, Red Rose Cafe, and Scarpa Ledge Farm pledged money sold per Turkey. They are extremely excited to present the Colchester Food Bank with a donation of $1000. We appreciate their generosity this holiday season!!
