ARPA grant signing
Colchester Comeback: First Attestation Agreement Signed

First Selectman's Report: 7/11 - 7/15/2022

  1. ARPA Initiative Completed: Glen Partridge (aka Mr. Lockout) was the first business owner to sign the Colchester Comeback Grant Program's Attestation Agreement. The Town of Colchester has begun the disbursement of $1M in ARPA funds to help him and all other qualified applicants. We have had droves of qualified applicants coming to the office to begin their disbursement process. Our small businesses are the heartbeat of our community. This historic $1M infusion shows the entire state of Connecticut that Colchester is top tier when it comes to supporting our small businesses and their success. These businesses are an inspiration to us all as they persevered through Covid and various state mandates that complicated their operations. I am proud to stand alongside these businesses and forever support them.

  2. The Town has been collaborating with DOT on Route 16 and Route 354. Potential countermeasures to help reduce traffic conflicts along the State Route 16 and State Route 354 corridors may be left turn lanes at some of the abutting road intersections; intersection lighting; installation of traffic signals, use of chevrons along road curves, increased size of edge line striping and use of pavement safety edge and possibly roundabouts.

  3. On July 18th, tree companies will come to the Town to remove dead trees.

  4. Line paintings are to be done at the stop bars around Town this upcoming week by the Highway Department, which will provide overall savings to the Town, as we are avoiding the use of vendors.

  5. Due to the recent drought, the Splash Pad will open from 10 am to 8 pm. We also encourage all our residents to conserve the water they use.

  6. The Colchester Hayward Fire Department will host a blood drive on Tuesday, July 19th, from 11:30 am to 4:30 pm. The blood drive location will be 52 Old Hartford Road in the meeting room of the fire department building.
