First Selectman’s Report: 6/21 – 6/24/2022

Tim Edwards

First Selectman’s Report: 6/21 – 6/24

  1. Yesterday, I issued a Proclamation recognizing Sergeant Tim Edwards' 23 distinguished years of service to our community. His career achievements in Colchester include a significant drug bust that secured over 100 bundles of heroin & a large amount of other major drugs and the surveillance of a terrorist, affiliated with Al-Qaeda, that resulted in government apprehension. Let's all wish him a wonderful retirement and thank him for his dedication to our great town.

  1. I am happy to report that the CORE Commission held their first celebration of Juneteenth at last week’s Farmer’s Festival.  This Sunday June 26th, the CORE Commission will be adding an event to celebrate Pride Month as the Town of Colchester proudly supports all people.

  1. The Southeastern Connecticut Amateur Radio Society (SECARS) will be hosting Field Day at Zagray Farm Museum in Colchester, CT from Saturday, June 25 to Sunday, June 26.  Field Day is an excellent opportunity to learn new skills and get on the air in the field.  SECARS will have ca. 6 stations set up, including a satellite station, foxhunting, great food, and an opportunity to see your local radio community in action.  All are welcome - just bring a dish to pass if you plan on attending the dinner on Saturday night.

  1. Citizens may pick up double ground woodchips at the Transfer Station for free this weekend.
