2. Economic Development Update!
InCord's facility expansion is progressing rapidly. Last year, InCord successfully secured a tax abatement for a new 29,000 sq. ft. building to produce custom safety nets to serve a wide range of markets. InCord will utilize the new facility to relocate from an existing production facility currently leased in Oakdale, CT and will relocate approximately twenty full-time employees to start (And add 3-5 production jobs and one administrative job annually dependent upon the company’s growth).
 
3. Economic Development Update #2
The Town and Country Early Learning Center, located at 111 Norwich Avenue, is anticipating a grand opening in September 2023. I look forward to their success here in Colchester!!

5. The Board of Selectmen approved a contract proposal from LEI/Haley Ward, Inc. (formerly Lenard Engineering) for professional services, provide a design plan, technical specifications, and contract documents for recoating and improvements to the 70-foot, 1,000,000-gallon water tank at Highland Farms in an amount not to exceed $13,050. The contract was signed today.
 
6. The Board of Selectmen unanimously approved the Mutual Police Assistance Contract. The contract was signed today.
 
7. The Board of Selectmen unanimously approved the Propane Supply Agreement between Connecticut Propane & Petroleum and the Town of Colchester for a fixed price of $2.15 per gallon for all fuel deliveries between July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024. The contract was signed today.
 
8. The Board of Selectmen unanimously approved the agreement between Dime Oil Co LLC and the Town of Colchester for the fixed price of heating oil at $3.1238 per gallon for 19,000 gallons, the fixed price of diesel fuel at $3.2406 per gallon for 26,000 gallons, and the fixed price of gasoline at $2.7319 per gallon for 33,000 gallons for the fuel deliveries taking place between July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024.
A solid win for the taxpayers!! From one budget to the next, heating oil went from $3.59 to $3.12; diesel went from $3.68 to $3.24; and gasoline went from $2.99 to $2.73. 
 
9. Board of Selectmen unanimously made a recommendation to the Board of Finance that the amount of $24,200 is appropriated out of the capital reserve for the Wash Bay Ceiling. 
 
10. Colchester in the News:
Please read about Donna Rosenblatt, owner of Rose’ N’ Petal Farm, and her idea to create a “Food Bank for Farm Animals” to help take food out of the waste stream while also helping shoulder the costs of feed for local farmers in town.
 
11. Community CPR & Stop the Bleed
The Colchester Fire Department is offering 2 classes in CPR/AED to the citizens of Colchester this month. These sessions will also include STOP the Bleed training. Classes are FREE.
