Colchester Motor Vehicle Tax Bills to be Delayed
The Town of Colchester will delay issuing Motor Vehicle Tax Bills
due to the uncertainty concerning possible legislation that could
result in a change to the uniform state-side Motor Vehicle Mill
Rate. As soon as information about the Motor Vehicle Tax Bills
is available it will be noticed in the papers, posted on the
and also by calling the Tax Office 860.537.7210
As mandated by Connecticut General Statutes 12-146,
you will have 1 month grace period from the established due
date to pay the bill without penalty. Bills for real estate and
personal property will go out on time, according to Wyatt.
“The 2016 Grand List bills for real estate and personal property
will be due July 1, 2017 and delinquent after August 1, 2017.
Those bills will be mailed by June 30, 2017,” according to Wyatt.
“Once the State budget has been finalized, the Town will
proceed with setting a due date for the motor vehicle bills
and then they will be mailed.”
Questions concerning tax payments should be directed to the
Tax Office, (860) 537-7210.

Testing Early Warning Siren and Notification
On the 1st Saturday of each month between 11am and 1pm,
Colchester Emergency Management will be testing sirens.
Sirens are pole mounted throughout town. During this process we
are going through these Early Warning Sirens to test and if possible,
restore them to a functional state of readiness to provide timely
advanced notice of significant emergencies to the public.
Prior to the testing, a public address message announcing the test will
be made, the test(s) wil be conducted and another public address
message will announce the conclusion of the testing.
Any actual emergency activation, there will be a 3 minute activation of
the siren(s) followed by a public address announcement of instructions
Please be patient during our testing and restoration process because
when needed, these sirens can, have and will save lives, only if they
