Strong winds are expected for our area starting today through the weekend. The strongest winds are expected Saturday through Sunday. High winds may cause tree damage, block roads and cause downed wires as well as power outages. TREAT ALL DOWNED WIRES AS LIVE AND STAY AWAY.
In case of an emergency, life threatening situation, downed line or if you are in imminent danger please call 911.

Motor Vehicle Tax Bills
Motor Vehicle bills have been mailed and are due no later than December 1, 2017. If you have not received a bill please contact the Tax Collectors office immediately. Failure to receive a tax bill does not invalidate the tax or any interest charged should the tax become delinquent. Taxpayers may access tax bill information and pay on-line from the homepage of the Town of Colchester website and click the “View and Pay Tax Bills” link under Online Services – fees apply. Eversource Upgrading Electric System
Eversource work will include installing 300 new and thicker utility poles and electric lines known as "tree wire," which can better withstand extreme weather. Smart switches are also being added to the system to help restore power outages more quickly. For more information visit Eversource.com
TOWN OF COLCHESTER ROAD IMPROVEMENTS
On 10/17 Wall Street Paving Operations will commence. The road will be closed to through traffic, however, local traffic to Wall Street and Gill Street will be maintained. Motorists should expect delays and should follow the direction of on-site traffic control personnel.
Residents and Motorists traveling though these roads during construction can expect to encounter delays.
The following week of 10/23 Miller Road and the Intersection of Miller Road and Old Hartford Road along with a small portion of Old Hartford Road west of Route 149 and Harbor Road will have paving conducted.
Within the next 14 days the Town Roads will have the centerlines re-painted. The painting operations will occur overnight in varying locations across the town and drivers should maintain their vehicles within the legal travel lane of the road. To ensure that drivers stay within their side of the road, strict compliance with the posted speed limits should be maintained by the operators of the vehicles at all times.
