Some of the services we provde include:
Hire-A-Youth
Our youth employment program matches local youth ages 12-18 with potential employers. Opportunities offered may include yard work, snow shoveling, office work, and other manual labor of a light nature. This service is offered to all Colchester residents needing help. Youth members fill out an application and are interviewed by our staff. Interested persons should call our office for more information.
Babysitting Swap-Board
There is a babysitting swap-board available in the Youth Services office. Parents looking for babysitters and teens looking for babysitting jobs are welcome to come in and post a notice of their needs or services. You must come in to the office to utilize the swap-board, as Youth Services staff is not permitted to give any information over the phone. This is not a referral service for either party.
Teens often have many questions about getting jobs.
Some of the most common questions we get are:
- Can 14 and 15 year-old's work? If so, where?
- Where do I get working papers?
- What is the minimum wage?
The best place to get the most accurate and up-to-date answers to these questions and other information about youth employment is the State of CT Dept. of Labor website:
