Open Youth Center provides kids with a safe and drug free environment that offers opportunities to meet new people, play games, strengthen social skills and just hang out. Our goal has always been to provide a great space where kids feel safe and comfortable and have the opportunity to “just be kids” for a while. We hope that they feel connected to at least one of our staff people and look to us as role models and sounding boards, should they need that.
Pre-registration is not required for youths to attend Open Youth Center. Students complete a registration form on their first day, which is sent home for parents to complete and sign. This form must be returned for students to return in the future.
For Parents/Guardians:
• The rules for Open youth Center are listed below. We would appreciate your support by going over the rules with your child at home.
• It is a student’s choice whether or not they stay at the Youth Center. Youth Services cannot be responsible for students who leave the premises. Please make your expectations clear with your child.
• Parents should be aware of the time that Open Youth Center ends and are asked to pick up their children on time.
• The Youth Services Bureau is not responsible for children once activities have concluded. Open Youth Center is just that--it is an open drop-in for students. Although there is supervision during the program, it is not a babysitting service. Children cannot be monitored prior to their arrival or after they leave the building. If you feel your child cannot handle the responsibility of this type of open program, please do not send them.
