ATTENTION COLCHESTER TAXPAYERS
Notice is hereby given to the Town of Colchester taxpayers that Motor Vehicle Supplemental taxes and the second installment of Real Estate taxes on the Grand List of October 1, 2017 are due and payable on January 1, 2019. The second installment bill for Real Estate taxes was included with the Real Estate tax bill due on July 1, 2018. No additional bills for the second installment for Real Estate taxes will be mailed.
Taxes not paid in full on or before February 1, 2019 become delinquent and are subject to interest at the rate of 1 ½% per month or 18% annum, from the due date of the tax, as required by Conn. Gen. Stat. 12-130,145 and 146. Mail postmarked (US Postal Service postmark only) on or before February 1, 2019 will be considered as having been paid on time. Payments dropped in the town hall’s drop box after 4:30p.m. on February 1,2019, will be considered as having been made on the following business day and will be deemed as paid late.
Failure to receive a tax bill does not invalidate the tax or any interest charged should the tax become delinquent. If you did not receive a bill and think you should please contact the office immediately. Conn Gen Stat. 12-130
Please make all checks payable to the Town of Colchester. Checks may be mailed to Tax Office, 127 Norwich Avenue Colchester, CT, 06415. If a receipt is desired, please send a self-addressed stamped envelope and two copies of the bill. Pay on-line by visiting our website www.colchesterct.gov; online payments are subject to convenience fees. Hours of collection are Monday – Wednesday and Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm; Thursday 8:30am- 7pm. The Tax Office uploads one file to the DMV website nightly. Payments made by cash will be released by DMV the next day - all other forms of payment will have a 10 day waiting period - no exemptions.
DMV has stated to us that releases put onto their system can take up to 48 hours or longer to take effect in their system.

The public can view and pay bills on-line using credit cards, debit cards, or electronic checks. To do so, visit the home page, click on the "View and Pay Taxes On-line" link located near the bottom of the homepage and follow the instructions to perform a search. A convenience fee will be charged by Point and Pay LLC to process electronic payments. The rates are $1.50 for e-checks, $3.95 for Visa Debit Cards, and 2.5% for credit cards (minimum fee $2.00 will be charged for credit card payments under $80). In addition to making on-line bill payments, taxpayers will be able to make credit and
debit card payments at the Tax Office. The same convenience fees will apply for credit or debit card payments made at the Tax Office.
The mission of the Tax Collector is to collect all tax revenue through the diligent application of State Statutes. We are responsible for the billing and collection of all real estate, personal property and motor vehicle taxes. We provide taxpayers of the town with information and assistance while guiding them in the understanding the taxation process.
