Town Flocks to Inaugural Trick or Trunk
Dateline: October 29, 2009, Colchester, CT
In response to promotion of the Colchester Parks & Recreation Department’s first ever “Trick or Trunk” event, more than 70 families have already registered to take part. Participants will park their vehicles on the Town Green, displaying their decorated truck. Costumed children will then visit the many trunks, trick-or-treating as if they were going door to door.
Vehicles must be parked on the green between 5:00-5:45pm in order to ensure that the area is safe for walkers beginning at 6:00pm. Participants are encouraged to distribute alternatives to candy, such as stickers, pretzels, etc, as a way to give Halloween a more healthful side.
Prizes will be awarded for the best trunk displays. Participating vehicles are requested to bring a lit jack-o-lantern as admission to the event.
The event is open to the public, including those who do not decorate a vehicle. There will be a costume parade at 6:15pm.
