Sign up for an electronic library card:

If you are a Colchester resident who does not have a library card you can now sign up for a temporary e-card to access the library's virtual services. The e-card will be good for thirty days. Stop by the Library within 30 days to complete the library card registration in order to obtain a physical card and full lending privileges. Click here to register for an ecard.


Colchester residents must have a Cragin Library Card to use these digital services. Cragin Memorial Library cardholders can access Great Courses, Qello Concerts, and Indie Flix videos through the Libby App, available for free from the Apple Store or Google Play. Those who prefer to use a desktop can access the materials here: https://libbyapp.com/library/libraryconnection. When you are signed in with your Cragin Memorial Library card, choose “Extras” and then either “The Great Courses Library Collection”, “Qello Concerts”, or “Indie Flix”.

Mission Statement

The Cragin Memorial Library serves the residents of Colchester with a collection of 63,000 items and is open 49 hours each week. In addition to a comprehensive collection of book and media offerings, the Library provides free programs for all ages, personal service, Inter-Library Loan, public internet computers, and free Wi-Fi access to the Library’s visitors. The Library also serves as a community destination, hosting hundreds of community activities for many organizations including scouts, sports league registration, and civic groups.

The Library is a town department with an advisory board to consult on policies and the general activity of the Library.  The Library’s programming is made possible through the community support provided by  Friends of Cragin Memorial Library.

Popular Reading

We will support leisure reading with a collection of current, high-interest material, popular periodicals, and classic books.

Children's Reading

We will introduce children to a love of reading as soon as they are old enough to look at a picture, listen to a story or hold a book.

Information

We will strive to provide timely, accurate, useful information to enable Colchester residents to inform themselves of all subjects that interest them.

  • Storytime programs for children ages birth to age 5 throughout the school year.
  • Summer reading program for all ages during the summer months.
  • Adult informational and cultural programs.
  • Technology instruction.
  • Museum passes--most now available to print-at-home!
