What is a Building Permit?
A building Permit gives you legal permission to start construction of a building project in accordance with approved drawing and specifications.

When do you need a Building Permit?
The best way to find out if you need a Building Permit is to contact the Building department at 860-537-7285.  Discuss your plans with the Building official before beginning construction to determine if you need a permit.  

How do you obtain a Building Permit?
Building Permits are available in the Planning & Zoning/Code Administration office at Town Hall, 127 Norwich Avenue, Suite 105. Please bring any sketches or plans for your project.

Please Note:  The Building Permit process takes approximately 10 to 15 business days.  Depending on the scale of the project.   Wetland or Zoning permits might be required.
